Greg Oakes was raised in Centre Wellington. A graduate of Centre Wellington District High School, he attended the University of Waterloo and the University of Western Ontario for his law degree. After being called to the bar, he opened his law office in Centre Wellington in 1989 and has been working hard at it ever since.
Married with three daughters, Greg loves this community. He has been involved in various local organizations, including the Wellington County Historical Society and the Elora Festival. He is a member and past chair of Rare Breeds Canada and the American Bashkir Curly Registry.
Greg served in the 11th Field Regiment in Guelph, a reserve artillery unit. He is the local Veteran’s service officer for the Royal Canadian Legion, helping former soldiers pursue their pensions.
Greg received the Queen’s Gold Jubilee Medal and the Canadian Decoration (CD2) in 2002. In 2012, he was awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. He has received a Medal of Meritorious Service from the Royal Canadian Legion.
